Theater is a dramatic presentation of a written work in a script form. Readers read from a "script" and reading parts are divided among the readers. Memorization, costumes, blocking, or special lighting is not needed but can also enhance the drama of the performance. Presentations can easily be done in a k-3 classroom. Scripts are held by the readers. Lines need not be memorized. The focus is on reading the text with expressive voices and gestures. This is a great way to watch your bilingual students’ reading abilities jump whole grade levels in a very short period of time and their confidence too!
